The Heart Behind FBC Lyons Children’s Ministry
Children Matter to God! And, children matter to US too. Psalm 127:1-5 says–Children are a heritage from the Lord–and we must prioritize helping them learn, grow, and develop in the way that He intended. That’s our desire here at FBC Lyons Treasure Cove Preschool Ministry and Truth Quest Children’s Ministry.
Weekly Schedule
Sunday Worship 9:00 a.m. & 6:00 p.m.
Infants–Kindergarten meet in Treasure Cove Preschool Wing for Wiggles, Snack & Play time
1st grade and up attend worship with their family
Sunday Small Group Bible Study 10:30 a.m.
Infants–6th grade engage in an age appropriate (Treasure Cove Preschool & Truth Quest Children’s Ministry) Large Group Bible lesson followed by grade level small group instruction to dig deeper
Wednesday Mid-Week Bible Study 6:30 p.m.
Infants–6th grade engage in an age appropriate (Treasure Cove Preschool & Truth Quest Children’s Ministry) Large Group Bible lesson followed by grade level small group instruction to dig deeper
Children’s Ministry is important because . . .
It’s Biblical!
THE DISCIPLESHIP OF CHILDREN IS OBEDIENCE TO WHAT GOD HAS SAID.
Consider these words from Psalms: “We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done” (Psalm 78:4).
The very foundation for our ministry to children is grounded with declarations such as these from God’s Word. Psalm 78 goes on to describe the amazing results we can expect from teaching children about the Lord. “Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands” (Psalm 78:7).
Children Matter to God
WHEN WE WELCOME CHILDREN, WE LEARN HOW TO BE IN GOD’S KINGDOM.
Jesus made it quite clear that children—all children—matter to God. He values them not only for what they will become in the future but for who they are today. Jesus even recommended to His grown-up, self-important disciples that to understand God’s Kingdom, they needed to observe, learn from, and imitate young children.Check out Mark 10:13-16.
While God is very clear in scripture that the home is the first place children should see faith being lived out, our desire, as a ministry, is to come alongside families and dig even deeper in the Word of God and to teach truths to children at every stage, as an extension of the foundation being built through the home. Setting a strong foundation of worship in kids from a young age not only sets them on the right path but also encourages them to be more productive members of society and share their gifts with the world.

CHILDREN TODAY ARE THE CHURCH TOMORROW!
Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Research has shown that for children, there is the largest probability that a person will embrace Jesus as his or her Savior. And the percentage drops off dramatically thereafter.
So, in terms of financial and time investment, children’s ministry creates the highest spiritual yield of any age group! At FBC Lyons, we consider the lifetime impact of children’s ministry to be immeasurable.
